Operations Engineer
Kane, PA
Full Time
Operations
Entry Level
We are looking to add to our Operations group of skilled members to support the day-to-day operation, optimization, maintenance and development of Pennhills Resources' oil and gas assets. If you are looking to be a part of a group that works together in co-creating solutions to any challenge, this opportunity is a fit. Encompassing production, drilling, completions and midstream operations, the Operations Engineer will work with the Operations Manager, Production Foremen, Maintenance Leads, Well Tenders and other personnel to improve production, reduce downtime and ensure safe and compliant operational practices.
The role is a hybrid operations and development engineering position, requiring strong field engagement, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional coordination. The Engineer will support and optimize current production, while also playing a key role in planning and executing drilling, completion, and workover projects, as well as evaluating and improving midstream systems and infrastructure.
The incumbent must actively look for ways to accomplish results efficiently with successful outcomes by engaging and soliciting contributions from field personnel, contractors, and management.

- Monitor well performance and production data to identify underperforming wells and optimization opportunities.
- Assist in diagnosing production issues such as paraffin buildup, scale, fluid pound, gas lock, and mechanical failures.
- Support optimization of rod pump systems, artificial lift systems, and chemical treating programs.
- Track and analyze production volumes, downtime, and equipment performance trends.
- Assist in planning and execution of maintenance, repair, and workover activities in coordination with field leadership.
- Conduct regular field visits to inspect equipment, verify data, and support troubleshooting efforts.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to midstream and surface infrastructure, including flow lines, compression, tank batteries, and gathering systems.
- Monitor system constraints and identify bottlenecks impacting production throughput and efficiency.
- Support design, optimization, and integrity management of gathering systems and facility operations.
- Assist in managing and improving corrosion control, paraffin management, and scale mitigation programs across production and midstream assets.
- Support planning and execution of development activities, including drilling, completions, recompletions, and workovers.
- Assist with preparation and tracking of Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs), cost tracking, and project reporting.
- Coordinate with field personnel, contractors, and service providers during drilling and completion operations to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Participate in well design, equipment selection, and field layout planning for new wells and development projects.
- Monitor drilling and completion performance (cost, time, efficiency) and identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
- Assist in post-job analysis, lessons learned, and documentation of development activities to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate production, operational, and project records.
- Support regulatory, environmental, and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) compliance efforts including documentation, reporting, and field audits.
- Promote and reinforce safe work practices, ensuring adherence to company safety policies including JSA, LOTO, and Hot Work procedures.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager and field leadership to prioritize work, allocate resources, and execute operational and development plans.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies across production, midstream, and development activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or commensurate related field experience.
- Minimum 1–5 years prior experience in related field (internship experience strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of engineering principles with exposure to production, drilling/completions, and midstream operations (conventional experience preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform work in the field.
- Good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment.
- Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to direct and coordinate the work activities of suppliers, contractors, and personnel supporting drilling and completions operations.
- Ability to balance field operations support with project-based development work.
